Police kill Liverpool FC fan in Lagos

A Liverpool FC fan was yesterday shot dead by operatives of Anti Cultism unit of the Lagos State Police Command.

The boy was shot dead  on Olu Aboderin Street, Onipetesi, while he was  watching the just concluded Liverpool FC match.

According to a witness, Emenike, the police  officers had come to the area to arrest a man, known in the area as Rasta. 

Emenike  said the officers, after making the arrest, started shooting into the air  only for one of the bullets to hit the boy.

He said the  victim was  rushed to the General Hospital in Ikeja, where he was confirmed dead.

There were rumours  that the killers were from the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), but a  police source at the command headquarters, Ikeja, revealed that  it was a detective attached to the  anti-cultism unit who fired the shot.

Two weeks ago, a police  sergeant attached to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence  Department  (SCIID) Panti, Yaba, shot dead a young school girl at  the Ikorodu area of the State.
