A suspected Greenland cult commander in Owube Kingdom, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, Izuma David Odiereke popularly known as Solution, has been gunned by the Police.
Odiereke, who has been on the wanted list of the Police was killed in a gun battle with the Police in a forest in the LGA at about 4am on Monday.
Briefing newsmen, at Ahoada Police Division where the corpse was brought, State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, said “We have been having attack from him. He has been on wanted list since 2016. He is a serial killer. His clan was deserted because of his criminal activities.
“His reign came to an end when the command took men to his camp at Api forest between Odiereke Ubie and Joinkarama 4 in Ahoada West LGA.
“Attempts were made to capture him three days ago, but he escaped. We continued to lay seige on him.”
Disu listed over 10 names killed by the Greenland Cult Commander during his reign.
The state Police voss also mentioned a paramount ruler, Sampson, as one of the notable persons killed by the dreaded cultist on February 2, 2024.
Disu commended officers of the Ahoada Area Command and Division for their dedication and commitment urging them not to relent.
He equally commended the natives for their cooperation in terms of intelligence and credible information to the Police.
Meanwhile there was crowd of residents of both Ahoada East and West LGA who came out in their numbers to cheer the Commissioner of Police for the feat achieved.
Chairman of Ahoada East LGA, Ben Eke, in his speech said he was delighted to hear of the death of the notorious cult kingpin, expressing optimism criminality will reduce in his LGA.
Paramount ruler of Owube community where the cult leader hailed from, Seji Ebenezer, said: “The community is so excited. The young man has been terrorizing the community. He is a serial killer, kidnapper and notorious cultist.
