Police confirm abduction of ABSU DVC

Abia State Police command has confirmed the abduction of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Godwin Emezue.

A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Maureen Chinaka, confirming the incident, said on January 26, at about 9.30pm, the Command received information that on the same date, at about 7pm, the DVC was abducted.

Chinaka said the hoodlums abducted Prof Emezue at a petrol station in Umuekwu Amachara, Umuahia South LGA, Abia State, where he went in company of the wife to buy fuel

The PPRO stated that during the incident, the hoodlums confiscated his wife’s ATM card, dragged the DVC into a Lexus SUV, and drove away with the victim.

The statement said the Abia State Police Command has deployed resources and assets including intelligence and technical aid towards unravelling the crime, with a view to safely rescuing the victim from his captors.

While urging Abians to remain calm and continue their legitimate activities, the command sought the cooperation of the public in the area of providing useful information to fight crime in the state.
