The leadership of Senator Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party has announced that a team of Rapid Response Squared from the Federal Capital Territory police command arrested some suspected hoodlums, who attempted to break into the headquarters of the LP located at Utako district, Abuja.
It stated that those arrested were currently helping the police to fish out the perpetrators of the evil act.
Senator Usman’s Interim National Working Committee (INWC) assumed office at the LP national secretariat claiming victory after a prolonged court battle with the Julius Abure-led group.
In a twist of event, the Abure group late Tuesday night, through its media, claimed control of the secretariat, with the dismantling of Sen Usman and Sen Darlington Nwokocha’s billboards, signifying control of the secretariat.
Consequently, the Usman-led faction group in an official statement by Ken Asowga, a media aide to Sen Usman yesterday morning announced that it was still in control of the party’s headquarters, saying, “The Labour Party wishes to thank the Nigerian Police for their swift response in flushing out the vandals and miscreants, who attempted to break into the Labour Party’s national secretariat last night.
“According to reports, the arrested suspects are currently assisting the police with useful information that may lead to the identification of their sponsors.

“While we continue to appreciate our supporters nationwide for their vigilance at this time, the party wishes to inform the public that through the timely intervention of the police, normalcy has since been restored at the party’s secretariat.
“The Labour Party also wishes to warn certain members, particularly elements of the former leadership, who allegedly attempted to desecrate the secretariat under the cover of darkness, that the party will no longer tolerate acts of brigandage from within its ranks.”
The statement further emphasised that the judgment of the Nigerian court was clear and unambiguous regarding the current leadership of the party.
It highlighted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has implemented the judgment by formally recognising Usman and Nwokocha as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the LP, respectively.
“Nigeria is a nation governed by laws, not a banana republic. Those rogue elements within the party who are bent on creating unnecessary hysteria are hereby advised to desist forthwith from doing so in the name of the LP.
“Furthermore, beyond the hoodlums already arrested, the LP calls on law enforcement authorities to immediately go after all criminal elements, who are using the name of the party to confuse and defraud unsuspecting members of the public. These charlatans, who purport to operate under the banner of the party without proper authority, are hereby warned that the party will no longer tolerate such criminality from any member, regardless of how highly placed,” it stated.
