Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and recovered two AK-47 riffles with two other fabricated guns. The Police Public Relations Officer for the state, Mansir Hassan, in a statement, said the arrest was in continuation of the command’s efforts to crack down on crime and criminality within the state and its environs. He stated that on July 23, this year, at about 6pm, a team of detectives led by the Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Sani Zuntu, acted on credible intelligence, and intercepted a suspicious waybill in Kaduna.
According to him, the consignment was being transported from Jos in Plateau State to Gusau in Zamfara State contained a fabricated AK-47 rifle concealed in a sack.
“The operatives follow-up and arrested two suspects in Gusau, who had arrived to receive the illegal firearm. The suspects have been identified as Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa. The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
“The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, commended the gallantry and professionalism of the operatives involved and reassured residents of Kaduna State that the command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
“The commissioner, who said criminals have no hiding place in the state, lauded the Inspector General of police, Kayode Egbetekun, for his continued support and encouragement,” the statement read in part.
