Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry with the arrest of four suspected criminals and recovery of weapons in Kaduna State.

The suspects — Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40) — were apprehended by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area, following credible intelligence.

Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, disclosed that items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles, magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a locally fabricated pistol loaded with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations, according to the police, indicate that the suspects are linked to banditry and other violent crimes in the region.

The police said efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal network and recover additional weapons.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to rid the country of banditry and ensure public safety.
