The Nigeria Police have announced the arrest of 120 suspects for various criminal offences in Kano State in March, 2024.
Kano State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Usaini Gumel disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, saying that the feat represents a milestone
in the fight against the resurgence of thuggery and related violent crimes by streets boys in the state.
A breakdown of arrests according to the police boss includes 15 armed robbery suspects, 4 suspected kidnappers, 10 suspected drug dealers, four motor vehicles thieves and three tricycles thieves.
Others are 7 motorcycles thieves, 2 suspected fraudsters and suspected thieves, and 55 suspected thugs (Yan-Daba), he stated.
He disclosed that they recovered a total of 15 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition,12 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 24 locally made Dane guns, 7 motor vehicles, 3 tricycles, 5 motorcycles, 28 knives, 10 cutlasses and 7 sharp irons (Dan-bida), 3 parcels and 56 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, among others in the same month.
he disclosed that the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security has led to a drop in the rate of crimes in the state
“As we celebrate these milestone achievements, members of the public should know that the Kano State Police Command remains committed to its mandate of upholding law and order, protecting lives and property, and ensuring the overall well-being of the good people of the State” he stated.
