A 23-year-old man, Nicolas Oluwatobi Dare, has been arraigned before the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court Ikorodu, for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl at Ori-Okuta, Imota, in Ikorodu .
The defendant was arraigned on a one-count charge of defilement by the police, an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The prosecution alleged that the incident occurred on July 22, 2026, at about 9 p.m. in an uncompleted building at Ori-Okuta, where the defendant allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with the minor.
The prosecutor further told the court that the incident was allegedly the third time the defendant had sexually abused the victim before he was eventually caught
The court heard that the victim had been sent on an errand to buy bread when the defendant allegedly lured her into the uncompleted building and committed the offence.
According to the prosecution, a neighbour became suspicious after seeing the defendant and the victim inside the building and alerted her parents who reported to the police, leading to an investigation and the defendant’s arrest.
The defendant is remanded in a correctional facility pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The case was adjourned until August 27, 2026, for the DPP’s legal advice.
