National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rose from a marathon meeting, announcing its resolution to petition the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) over the refusal of both the governor of Plateau State and the Speaker State House of Assembly to swear in the 16 APC elected members of the party in the state.
National Vice Chairman South West, Isaacs Kekemeke, made the disclosure while addressing newsmen after the meeting at the party’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
The NWC also threatened to deploy every legal machinery against the governor, Caleb Muftwang, the State House Speaker and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure that the judgment of the Court of Appeal is carried out to the letters.
According to the NWC; “We are here to brief you on the decisions we took at the meeting over the conducts of the governor of Plateau State and the Speaker State House of Assembly and their refusal to abide by the final decision of the Court of Appeal to swear in 16 members of the APC lawmakers duly elected.
“The Court of Appeal reaffirmed the decision of the Tribunal and we frown at the illegality of the Speaker of Plateau State Assembly and the governor for attempting to obey that decision.
“It is sad that the Governor of Plateau who is enjoying the office by virtue of the constitution of the country wants to deny the 16 member of the APC the fruit of their electoral victory. He wants to deny our party, the APC, the success of our victory at the poll.
“This is a big threat to democracy and an unacceptable behaviour. The NWC expresses its absolute displeasure over this continued illegality. This is unacceptable from both governor, Speaker and the PDP at large.
“The NWC calls on the AGF, the IGP and all other security forces to enforce the final decision of the Court of Appeal being the final court with respect to this election. The court has spoken and yet the PDP, governor, and the Speaker shamelessly continued to disobey the court judgment.
“The patience of the APC is running out but because the APC is a peaceful party we are calling on the law enforcement agencies to do the needful now and not tomorrow. We will use every legal instrument to ensure that the 16 APC lawmakers are sworn-in,” the APC NWC warned.
