- Pleads with Supreme Court, NJC to revisit cases
From Jude Owuamanam, Jos
Former governor of Plateau State Jonah David Jang has said that rather than accusing the People’s Democratic Party PDP) of having no structure, it is the All Progressive Congress (APC) that is without a structure in Plateau .
Jang said that this is because the the APC never conducted any election to elect it’s state exco as the chairman and the party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 election were single handedly handpicked by the leadership of APC in the state.
The former governor, who spoke on Tuesday in Jos against the backdrop of the judgment of the Appeal Court, which sacked all the elected representatives of the party at the National and State Assembly, described the judgments as miscarriage of justice.
Jang said the former governor, Simon Lalong should be penalised for denying APC a structure when he imposed the current party Chairman on the APC in the State.
The former governor while welcoming the immediate past House of Representative member for,Jos East/Jos South federal Constituency, Musa Dachum Bagos, ‘Thank You Visit’, to appreciate him for his fatherly role in supporting his aspirations , said though the Court had had it’s say, God is the final arbiter.
Bagos was one of the PDP members whosever elections were annulled by the Appeal Court on account of the fact that as at the time of their nomination to contest for their various offices, PDP had no structure in the state.
He said, “Who said we don’t have structure. In fact, it’s the APC that does not have structure because the APC chairman did not buy any form. He was handpicked by Lalong. Even their candidate was not validly nominated. And that’s why the members walked out during their congress because there was no congress at all but they were imposed on their members.”
The former governor also denied that his irreconcilable differences with the PDP faction led by Gen. Jeremiah Useni, caused the problem for the party, said that in the first place there was nothing to reconcile as the PDP had no faction.
He accused some members of PDP as being moles for APC
Jang said, “What do you call irreconcilable differences. There was nothing to reconcile because PDP is one. Let me tell you, some of those elders talking about structure had one leg in PDP and the other in APC. They were moles in PDP.
Jang said the PDP had since obeyed the court order by organising the second congress, adding, “It was there all over that we obeyed the court by conducting the second election. Even Bitrus Kaze congratulated Chris Hassan, the eventual winner
He said for no reason should the Appeal Court had given such “malicious” judgement against the PDP but added that God is the supreme judge.
Jang called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to review the cases of the national and state assembly elections.
He also hinged his hope on God regarding the anticipated ruling of the Supreme Court on the appeal lodged by Governor Caleb Mutfwang on the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which sacked him as governor of the state
Jang said, “We have an ultimate court in heaven that will upturn all the malicious court judgement against the PDP. How can somebody who won only one local government out of six be the senator representing the zone”, he said.
The former reps member, while thanking Jang for his support, said that he has an unwavering commitment to PDP. He appreciated the former governor for remaining steadfast as the father of PDP, not only in Plateau, but in Nigeria.
Bagos, who also addressed party supporters at Du and Zawan districts of Jos South local government, said that, “I will continue with the commitment to our people in or out of office. PDP is here to stay and we must continue to do what we promised to do for our people. The stadium I promised to Du people is nearing completion while a transformer has been provided for you to enjoy uninterrupted power supply.
