Plateau Government has commenced the construction of a major bridge linking several communities in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area.

The bridge links over ten communities within Mushere to Kaduna and Nasarawa states.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang had promised to construct the bridge during one of his recent visits to the communities affected by insecurity in the district.

Mr Na’anlong Daniel, Speaker of the House of Assembly and other government officials visited the site on Sunday to ascertain the level of work.

Daniel said the project, when completed, would create access for security agencies to promptly respond to any security breach in the communities.

The speaker who described the project as an “emergency”, expressed satisfaction with the level of work so far done.

“We are here actually out of the concern of the governor to ensure that there is an access road that will link these communities to other parts of the state.

“So far, what we have witnessed as part of our oversight function, is that this is more like giving an emergency attention to the needs of this community.

“We have gone round and have seen the materials on ground provided by the chairman of the LGA for the completion of the project.

“This project is so dear to us because it will go a long way to create easy access for the security agencies to respond to distress calls.”

He urged residents of  Mushere to support the government towards the  completion of the project.

The speaker also assured residents of the area of government’s commitment towards tackling the security challenges currently bedevilling them. Mr Samuel Amalau, chairman of Bokkos, said that all the materials for the completion of the project had been procured.
