The former Group Managing Director of Comet Shipping Agencies/Five Star Logistics Limited, Mr. PL Carrodano, has been honoured with a Life Time Achievement Award by the League of Maritime Editors (LOME) for his 40 years of service in the Nigerian maritime industry.
Mr. PL Carrodano was among personalities including Prince Olayiwola Shittu, a former President of Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, who received various awards at the 25th Anniversary of the League for their contributions to the growth of shipping in Nigeria.
Presenting the award to Carrodano, who was represented by Publisher/Editor in Chief of PortNews newspaper, Mr. Wale Oni.

Chief Timothy Okorocha, said Mr. PL Carrodano deserved the honour in view of his commitment and firm belief in Nigeria’s growth, noting that it was very uncommon to see a foreigner like the recipient to remain consistently in the Nigerian shipping industry despite harsh policies.
Mr. Carrodano thanked the League for honouring him and pledged his commitment towards the growth of the shipping sector and the national economy of Nigeria.
“Nigeria’s prospects in the shipping trade are very encouraging and promising. With the government’s recent commitment to the Deep Blue Sea project l think positive results will happen to the economy and Nigeria as a whole,” Carrodano said.
Mr. PL Carrodano, an Italian, had over 40 years of working experience in international shipping practice. He had held top positions in shipping companies in Africa, Europe and North America (USA). He is a shipping expert with educational backgrounds in financial and economic disciplines and his hands-on experience is unequivocal.
Mr. Carrodano, whose inspiration assisted greatly in the establishment of Comet Shipping Agencies Nigeria Limited, used his vast knowledge in shipping to achieve high profitability, train many generations of maritime trade professionals and to efficiently put the companies under his watch in the right footing as the Group Managing Director. He repositioned the companies to surmount contemporary challenges in a fast developing maritime economy like Nigeria.
