PDP plans reception for BoT chair, Wabara, says party not dead in Abia

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abia chapter is hosting a big reception for the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman, Adolphus Wabara.

Disclosing this during a press conference in Umuahia, the immediate -past Deputy Governor of Abia State, and chairman, Local Organizing Committee for the civil reception, Dr. Ude Oko Chukwu, said contrary to speculations in some quarters, the party was not dead in the State

Ude Okochukwu declared that very soon, the few chieftains who left the party would soon return.

He said the event scheduled for Saturday June 1, at the Okpara Square Event Centre Umuahia, would again, prove to the nay sayers that Abia remains a stronghold of the PDP.

The former Deputy Governor said that preparations were on top gear for a hitch- free event.

He said that a number of PDP Governors, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), ex-Governors and other bigwigs including non PDP members, had confirmed their participation.

Oko Chukwu disclosed that the Vice Chairman of Governors’ Forum and Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, would chair the event to be hosted by Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah.

The former Deputy Governor said that the party decided to celebrate Wabara considering his enormous contributions towards building both the PDP, and the Nigerian democracy.

He described the former Senate President as “a distinguished Nigerian, democrat, leader and a man of peace who deserves to be honoured.

“We feel it is time to let him know that we appreciate all his contributions. We are going to roll out the drums to celebrate him.

“It is no longer an Abia thing but a national event as the NWC of our party, the People’s Democratic Institution and other stakeholders are collaborating for the success of the event”.

Former House of Reps member, Abonta described Wabara as an apostle of justice who deserved to be honoured.
