A former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has alleged that the party is now under the control of forces working in alignment with the opposition.
Speaking on Arise News, Olawepo-Hashim said efforts to reconcile factions within the party have been compromised, insisting he can no longer be part of a process that appears to favour entrenched interests.

According to him, the PDP has deteriorated into a structure influenced by a serving minister who, he claimed, is collaborating with the opposition.
“I was all for the reconciliation of factions in the PDP, but I will not be part of a process that coronates the incumbent,” he said.
Describing attempts to salvage the party as futile, Olawepo-Hashim added, “I give up; it is a lost battle trying to save the PDP.”
