The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media and Communications to Ambassador Iliya Damagum, the Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Malam Yusuf Abubakar Dingyadi, has resigned.

Dingyadi, in a letter dated 25th June 2025 and addressed to Damagum, thanked the party for the opportunity to serve in that capacity.

“While I appreciate the support and prayers of the PDP family during my stay in this office, I remain appreciative of all the contributions given to me to ensure the success of my assignment,” the statement reads in part.

Meanwhile, Dingyadi did not detail the reason for his resignation.

However, before his resignation, he was at the forefront of defending and explaining issues about the PDP crisis and promoting its political cohesion and progress.

During his tenure as spokesperson, Dingyadi featured prominently on both conventional and new media, reacting to and discussing issues related to the party’s activities.

He was at the forefront of PDP campaigns during the Obasanjo/Atiku era and served under the Minister of Communications, the late Arzika Tambuwal.

He was also in the media group of the late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua’s political group, People’s Front (PF), SDP, Attahiru Bafarawa’s political movement, DPP, and Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s administration. He was also part of the presidential campaign teams of Obasanjo/Atiku (1999 and 2003), Goodluck Jonathan/Namadi Sambo (2011), and Atiku Abubakar/Ifeanyi Okowa (2023).

Dingyadi worked as a journalist at Reporter/Nasiha, BBC Hausa, and many media establishments in and outside Nigeria for over two decades.
