The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)candidate in Imo state, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission,(INEC) to ensure that the November 11, 2023 governorship election in the state is transparent and peaceful.

He pledged to create 23,000 jobs in his first 100 days if elected by employing 20 youths from each community. He also said he would grant amnesty to agitating youths in the  state to curb communal clashes, which have been  on the rise.

Anyanwu, who disclosed this during an interactive session with indigenes of Imo State in Lagos, stated that he would make Imo State safe again .

He said, “There are 27 local government in the state and you can create direct employment  automatically,  just like the late former President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua did such after employing dialogue in the Niger Delta in 2009.

“The decision restored peace in the region and improved crude oil production. We are going restore peace, in Imo, the state was known as hospitality hub because a lot  people in the surrounding states visited Imo at the weekend and this increased the revenue generation of the state within that three days of the weekend .

“Today, the reverse is the case, a lot of persons are out of job because they have been retrenched based on low patronage while others have folded.”

He called on the people of Imo State to vote out failure, and noted that the administration in power has failed.

He further said, “We are going to train and re-train our public school teachers and ensure that our public schools compete with private schools.

“Today we have less than 30 doctors in Imo State. I will take care of the primary health centres, I will employ doctors. There is no community in Imo State that doesn’t have at least one doctor, but because there has been no employment, many of them have gone abroad.”

He urged INEC to conduct a credible, free and fair election, and avoid jeopardising the destiny of people of Imo State.
