Oyo State Police Command has announced the safe release of abducted farmer, Mathew Owoade, following a coordinated security operation that mounted sustained pressure on his kidnappers.
Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Ayanlade Olayinka, said: “The victim, abducted along the Igbojaye–Budo Aare bush road on July 12, regained his freedom on the evening of July 13, after his captors abandoned him.
“The rescue followed the immediate deployment of a joint security operation and intensive investigative efforts by the police and other security agencies. The operational pressure exerted on the abductors forced them to flee, leaving the victim behind.

“Mr. Owoade has been taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment. After receiving medical attention, he will be debriefed by investigators as part of efforts to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible for the abduction.”
Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the support of other security agencies, community members and residents throughout the operation. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting life and property, assuring residents that criminal elements would not be allowed to operate freely in the state.
Police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to assist ongoing security operations.
