Oyo: Olunloyo is at ICU in UCH – Family

The family of a former governor of old Oyo State, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo have said their patriarch is alive, though he is receiving medic attention at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University Teaching Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State.

It was reported that he has been battling with particular ailments for many weeks and that he fainted on Friday. He was rushed to UCH, where he was resuscitated and placed on life support.

Olunloyo, who was governor of the old Oyo State for three months, from October 1,1983 to December 31 of the same year, served as a Commissioner for Local Government in the defunct Western Region of Nigeria. He was born on April 14, 1935 and April 14, 2022, he clocked 87 years.

A statement, entitled: Official Statement from the Olunloyo Family, Ilissued on Saturday morning by the family, and directed to all Nigerians and well wishers, read in part: “We appreciate the public for the interest shown in the wellbeing of our father, Chief Dr. Victor Omololu Sowemimo OLUNLOYO (aka VOSO).

“In the tradition of the OLUNLOYO family of Ibadanland, and based on the principles of integrity, inclusion, and openness upon which our revered father VOSO has always stood, we would like to inform the Nigerian public that we would greatly appreciate your prayers for our father who is presently in the ICU at UCH Ibadan.

“As a public figure, we believe that his condition should not be hidden from the Nigerian public who have a right to know about their leaders.

“Please accept our most sincere thanks for your all concern and goodwill. May God Almighty bless you all and our dear country Nigeria.”
