The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has promised that he will not discriminate against any town if elected governor.
Oyebamiji made the promise during a campaign rally in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area, on Wednesday.
He said his administration would ensure that the health, education and commerce sectors received the necessary attention and support.
Oyebamiji urged residents to collect and keep their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), including newly registered voters, advising them to work with party officials at the local government level to obtain their PVCs without difficulty.
He warned that selling a PVC was wrong, describing the card as voters’ “power and licence” to participate in the August 15 election.
He also said no one should intimidate or harass voters for attempting to vote, adding that any thug or hoodlum caught would be dealt with by security operatives.
He promised to support rural communities by developing the agricultural sector and providing basic infrastructure to encourage farming and reduce hunger.
The APC candidate urged residents not to be distracted by rumours that the election would be violent, arguing that the current government would be removed on August 15 and that a “new era” of development would follow.
Before addressing supporters in Okuku and later Ikirun, Oyebamiji met with traditional rulers in Odo-Otin at the Olokuku Palace. After Ikirun, the campaign moved through Iree, Ada, Aagba and Iragbiji.
