More than 250,000 Nigerian women have registered for the newly introduced EmpowerHER Financial Literacy Programme, a flagship initiative of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.

The scheme aims to elevate women’s skills in finance, digital technology, and entrepreneurship nationwide, reinforcing their position in Nigeria’s economic development.

Launched in Abuja under the stewardship of the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, EmpowerHER is a pivotal part of the federal government’s ongoing efforts to empower women economically and foster inclusive growth across the country. The programme enjoys strategic collaboration with Kudimata Nig. Ltd, a renowned organization specializing in financial literacy and empowerment.

Kudimata provides the digital tools, expert content, and logistical network required for broad delivery of the initiative.

At the launch, Sulaiman-Ibrahim highlighted the programme’s significance: “This initiative is a cornerstone of national transformation that places knowledge and financial capability at the centre of empowerment.” She stressed that EmpowerHER is designed to train millions of women across Nigeria, equipping them with essential financial and digital literacy skills alongside entrepreneurial development, thereby laying a sustainable foundation for women’s economic progress.

“Empowerment must start with understanding,” the Minister remarked, adding, “Financial literacy gives women the confidence to take control of their resources, opportunities, and future.” She further noted, “With EmpowerHER, we are laying the foundation for a financially literate and economically empowered generation of Nigerian women, one that will strengthen families, communities, and our nation.”

The Minister also declared that financial and digital literacy will be integral to every empowerment programme under the ministry going forward. This approach aligns with the Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions 774 under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, ensuring programmes deliver sustainable, transparent, and impactful results.

“From classrooms to marketplaces, civil service to entrepreneurship, every Nigerian woman deserves to be equipped and empowered to shift from survival to thriving. We are building a generation of women who are informed, equipped, and unstoppable,” Sulaiman-Ibrahim concluded.
CEO of Kudimata Nig. Ltd, Kathleen Erhimu, described EmpowerHER not just as a project, but as a national movement.

She said, “Whether a woman is behind a desk, in a market, on a farm, or leading an enterprise, EmpowerHER ensures she has the knowledge, access, and confidence to grow wealth, build businesses, and shape her destiny.”

The programme is delivered via the Happy Woman Platform, providing Nigeria’s most comprehensive empowerment framework.

Participants gain access to a wide range of resources including financial and digital literacy training, entrepreneurship mentorship, peer learning, access to finance, and connections to opportunity networks.

Aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, EmpowerHER plans to reach 10 million Nigerian women by 2030, bridging both urban digital audiences and community-based groups.
