Abia-2

No fewer than 2,000 Abians have received the Jennifer Etuh Foundation annual free healthcare.

The five-day event which held at Umuenyere Alayi Primary Health Centre, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State offered consultations, surgeries, and essential medications to the underprivileged area. Complex surgeries were, however, conducted at a nearby hospital in Uzuakoli.

Speaking at the event, the Programme Manager of the foundation, Joe Out, said the initiative aimed to give healthcare access to between 2,500 and 3,000 patients, noting that over 1,200 has already been attended to by the third day.

“We have carried out more than 50 surgeries within two days, including eye operations and general surgical procedures,” he said.

He explained that common cases like hypertension, malnutrition among children, dental and eye problems were also treated. “This effort complements the government’s work. Our aim is to ensure that people in underserved areas can access healthcare without financial constraints,” Otu added.

According to him, the outreach was conducted in partnership with Pro Health International, among others, as part of a wider programme that has already reached states, including Cross River, Imo, and Osun. “After Abia, the foundation will extend its services to Kaduna and Gombe before concluding its 2025 outreach calendar,” he promised.

Pastor Alex Imude, Head of the evangelical team of the foundation, explained that the outreach gave both medical and spiritual support to the people.
