The crack in “our mumu don do” movement, led by ace music star, Charles Oputa, otherwise known as Charly Boy, widened, yesterday, with the sudden resignation of Prince Deji Adeyanju, a key member of the group.

His resignation came few weeks after he returned from incarceration, having spent almost three months in Kano prison.

Adeyanju, in a brief statement released in Abuja, said: “I’ve resigned my membership of ‘Our Mumu Don Do’ movement. I no longer have confidence in the leader of the movement, Charles Oputa, otherwise known as Charly Boy.

“He betrayed the course of the movement, while I was away in prison, and compromised with our oppressors.”

He, however, declined further information on specific areas on the alleged betrayal by Charly Boy.

Adeyanju was said to be a critical member of the movement and had significantly contributed to the success of the movement, especially in raising public awareness on happenings in government.

Charly Boy, Deji Adeyanju and other like minds have successfully held several protests at Unity Fountain and elsewhere, in Abuja, against the Nigerian government and other perceived corrupt individuals in government.

They, however, attracted global attention when they organised a daily sit-out in Abuja, to demand the return or resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari, who had spent over three months in London hospital, then, for an undisclosed ailment.
