Governor Alex Otti has lauded the member representing Isuikwuato and Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Infectious Diseases, Amobi Ogah, for his quality representation.

Governor Otti, who made the commendation at Uturu during activities marking two years in office of Ogah and distribution of empowerment items by the lawmaker to his constituents, said the economic support items of the lawmaker will help to strengthen livelihood and improve welfare.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu, Otti described the large scale empowerment programme as one of the most extensive community focused interventions in the constituency in recent years.

Otti commended Ogah for what he termed impactful and people-centred representation. He said the state government remained committed to policies and programmes that advance economic growth and social development, adding that Ogah’s stewardship reflects a clear understanding of governance as service.

Otti noted that Ogah has consistently demonstrated that public office should be used to improve lives and not for personal enrichment, and urged him to sustain the tempo in the interest of the constituency and Abia State at large.

Ogah had earlier said the empowerment programme, implemented under the UgoAbia Grassroots Movement Initiative, was designed to support the economic independence of his constituents.

He said the gesture was also an expression of gratitude for the overwhelming support he continues to receive from the people and from the administration of Governor Otti.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his long held belief that public office is a privilege and not a business venture, adding that effective leadership must be anchored on accountability, service, and the collective good.

He urged Nigerians to reject vote buying and support leaders who prioritise transparency and development. He listed several completed and ongoing projects, including infrastructure, skills acquisition programmes, and security interventions. Ogah urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items given to them.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Simeon Ndubuisi, Ugonma Nwachukwu, and Njideka Obasi, described Ogah’s representation as purposeful and compassionate, expressing gratitude for his sustained commitment to community development.

Items distributed at the event included cars, tricycles, sewing machines, motorcycles, deep freezers, grinding machines and household equipment.
