The Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Investment Promotion and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), Jerome Nbaonu Green-Amakwe, has said that the state is experiencing a new era of development and responsible governance under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti.
In a Democracy Day message personally signed by him, Green-Amakwe urged Abians to celebrate not only Nigeria’s democratic journey but also what he described as the remarkable transformation taking place in the state since the current administration assumed office.
According to him, Democracy Day carries special significance for the people of Abia as it represents liberation, renewal, accountability and the emergence of a government focused on service delivery and the welfare of citizens. The governor’s aide stated that if any state has reason to be thankful on Democracy Day, it is Abia, noting that residents endured decades of unfulfilled promises, poor development and missed opportunities before the coming of the present administration. He said the state’s fortunes changed with the election of Governor Alex Otti and his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, describing their emergence in 2023 as a turning point that ushered in purposeful leadership and renewed hope.
Green-Amakwe recalled that despite widespread skepticism about the possibility of meaningful change, a committed team of supporters and stakeholders remained steadfast in their belief that a better Abia was achievable. According to him, the movement that brought the administration to power was driven by a shared desire to rebuild the state and improve the lives of its people rather than by personal interests. He paid tribute to members of the campaign structure that helped secure victory for the administration, including the late Hon. Nnanna Ngwu, who served as chairman of the campaign organisation, and Hon. Acho Obioma, who functioned as director-general.
The aide also acknowledged the contributions of key coordinators across the state’s senatorial zones, including his role in Abia Central and that of Dr. C. Okwuonu in Abia South, while commending other stakeholders who mobilised support in Abia North.
He further recognised several prominent members of the campaign team and grassroots coordinators across the 17 local government areas of the state for their contributions to the success of the administration.
Green-Amakwe praised Governor Otti’s leadership style, describing him as disciplined, strategic and focused on delivering results. He said the governor’s ability to inspire citizens and rally support for a common vision had translated into visible progress across various sectors of the state.
Reflecting on the significance of Democracy Day, he expressed gratitude to God for the progress recorded in Abia and paid tribute to individuals whose sacrifices and commitment contributed to the state’s transformation.
He also urged residents and supporters of the administration to continue embracing values such as integrity, transparency, discipline and selfless service, which he said have played a crucial role in driving development in the state.
The governor’s aide congratulated Governor Otti, Deputy Governor Emetu, members of the administration, stakeholders, grassroots mobilisers and the people of Abia State on the occasion of Democracy Day.
He expressed optimism that the state would continue to witness accelerated development and democratic dividends under the current administration while praying for wisdom and guidance for its leaders in the task of building a prosperous future for all Abians.
