Otedola donates N1bn to Lagos for security

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has received a cheque of one billion naira from the philanthropist and entrepreneur, Mr. Femi Otedola to support the security architecture of the state.

The cheque was handed over to governor by Otedola at the Lagos House, Marina on Wednesday.

Reacting to the kind gesture at the presentation of the cheque, Governor Sanwo-Olu, said the donation would go a long way in creating a more peaceful atmosphere and conducive business environment for economic benefits for investors and residents at large.

The governor thanked Mr Otedola who was represented by his daughter, Ms Tolani Otedola for the donation which he noted will boost the morale of security personnel and provide more security equipment and vehicles.

Governor Sanwo-Olu appealed to other well-meaning Lagosians to borrow a leaf from Mr Otedola and be intentional in joining the government to make Lagos a safer place for businesses to flourish as the commercial nerve center of the country.

Speaking on behalf of her father, Ms Tolani Otedola, who assured the Lagos State government of more support, called for transparency and accountability for every penny donated to make an impact on residents.

She acknowledged and saluted the contributions of the security personnel, especially during the festive periods for adequate protection of lives and property, while encouraging residents to cooperate with the government for a more secure Lagos.

The one billion naira is the largest individual donation to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.
