The Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Oyeyode Oyesosin, has directed his subjects to vote for Governor Ademola Adeleke in the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
The monarch made the call yesterday during the inauguration of Phase I of the Ejigbo–Iwo road executed by Governor Adeleke.
Daily Sun noted that the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Najeem Salaam, is from Ejigbo.
Oba Oyesosin praised Adeleke’s administration for completing roads that had long been a concern of the community and its environs.
He said that, “with what Adeleke has done”, he wanted his subjects to understand and vote for the governor in the election.
“With what Adeleke has done, I want to tell my subjects, I know that you always hear me and understand my language. I want to tell you that we are going to cast all our votes for Governor Ademola Adeleke,” the monarch said.
In his remarks, Governor Adeleke promised that once the project is completed, he will invite the monarch to commission the road. He thanked the royal fathers for their support, promising that he would fulfil previous promises.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Mr Bello Bashir, said Ejigbo–Iwo is a 33 km intercity road linking several communities, including Ejigbo, Ilawo, Iwata, Ijimoba, Alagba, Iwo-Oke, Ibarapa, Amere, and Iwo.
He explained that reconstruction was split into segments, with the first phase of 12 km having a 7.3 m width, awarded to two contractors—De-Log Construction Company Limited (6 km) and Messrs and Time Building and Construction Limited (6 km)—and ready for commissioning.
He said the Ejigbo–Isoko–Aiye Oguro–Oyo State road of 10.7 km was approved and to be divided into segments for faster completion.
He also noted that the Ejigbo–Ika–Orangun and Gaa–Gbonka roads, totalling 4 km, were reconstructed by Adeleke’s administration, saying the projects were done to engineering standards.
