Osun State will grab the global spotlight next week as stakeholders in traditions, art, history, festivals, and culture, especially Yoruba people, at home and in the Diaspora, will gather in the state for the first edition of Adire Osun Agbaye Fiesta.

The event, which is scheduled to be held in Osogbo, the state capital, between September 10 and 14, 2025, has as its theme: ‘Adire Osun: A Symbol of Yoruba Heritage and Identity’.

The event is designed to promote the timeless artistry, heritage and economic significance of Adire (tye and dye).

The state Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has listed the advantages of the important event and also assured arrangements have been made to maximally utilise the fiesta to reinforce Adire potential for cultural and economic development of the state.

The governor, who made the disclosure while receiving members of the planning committee, led by his Special Adviser on Cultural Affairs, Ayodeji Olamilekan, in Osogbo, also submitted that his administration would tap, to the fullest, the potential of Adire as a thriving cultural industry and a symbol of identity.

Earlier, Olamilekan, who is popularly called ‘Sango of Africa’, had briefed the governor on preparations for the fiesta, noting that the four-day event would attract Adire makers and sellers from all local governments in the state and the other five South West states.

The four-day event will also feature a symposium on the future of Adire Osun, a fashion show to appreciate some living and dead icons, who had made a difference in arts and culture.

Governor Adeleke will preside over the opening ceremony on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Technical College, Osogbo, while dignitaries, traditional rulers, stakeholders in the art and culture industry are expected to attend the event.
