Osun: PDP urges police to arrest suspected murderer of party member

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Police Force for their efforts in investigating the murder of a party member in the Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.

In a statement released on Thursday, Sunday Bisi, the state chairman of the PDP, acknowledged the response from the Zone XI Command concerning the petition related to the tragic event. He urged police operatives to maintain their professionalism and commitment to justice until all individuals responsible for the crime are held accountable.

The PDP specifically called on the police to apprehend and prosecute a suspect identified in their petition, who is widely believed to be the ringleader of the attackers. The party emphasised that bringing all suspects to justice is crucial for rebuilding public trust in the police force and serving as a deterrent against political violence.

The PDP extended its condolences to a police officer reportedly injured while attempting to arrest some of the suspected killers, recognising the bravery and sacrifices of law enforcement in these challenging circumstances and wishing the officer a swift recovery.

The party reiterated its stance that no political ambition justifies the loss of innocent lives, asserting that anyone involved in such violence must face the full force of the law, regardless of their political connections or status.

The PDP emphasised the importance of a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation into the matter, viewing this as essential for maintaining the peace currently prevalent in Osun State, particularly under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, who has been an advocate for peace, the rule of law, and tolerance.

The party maintained that it remains dedicated to seeking justice for the victims and will continue constructive engagement with relevant authorities in pursuit of peace and constitutional democracy.
