Some members of the Accord Party on Wednesday sustained various degrees of injury after Governor Ademola Adeleke, his sister Chief Modupe Adeleke, Chief of Staff Kazeem Akinleye and other state officials fell during a podium collapse.
Adeleke was at the inauguration of his re-election canvassers, held at Ijebu-Jesa in the Ori-Ade Local Government Area, when the incident happened.
A circulating video showed Adeleke on the podium with his entourage, including the spokesperson of his re-election campaign council, Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi, who organised the event.

The podium collapsed due to the apparent overcrowding of the stage, which included security operatives.
The incident affected several members of the party, while the governor, his sister and the chief of staff were safely rescued by security operatives.
It eventually led to the abrupt end of the programme, as subsequent efforts to ascertain the health condition of the governor and his entourage proved futile.
