Osun NLC elects new exco

Barely one year after the crisis that characterized its election, the Osun State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday elected Comrade Christopher Arapasopo as its chairman.

The NLC election had been disrupted in March 2023 which led to the appointment of Mrs Modupeola Oyedele as the caretaker chairperson.

The National Treasurer of Nigeria Labour Congress and National President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Workers who was the Electoral Officer for the election conducted at His Grace Hall, Osogbo, on Wednesday, Comrade Ambali Olatunji, declared Arapasopo winner, having polled 270 to defeat his co-contestant, Comrade Olumide Faniran, who scored a total vote of 232The leadership of the funding industrial unions who represented their unions, voted in the election.

In his acceptance speech, Arapasopo promised to accord welfare of workers necessary priority, resuscitate Civil Service Week, embark on resuscitation of Productivity Day as well as resuscitate of elders/leaders forum to serve as a think-tank for the congress.

He commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his commitment to the welfare of serving and retired civil servants in the state.

Other members of the newly inaugurated Osun NLC executive committee are: Taoheed Babawale and Emmanuel Adegboye who were elected Vice Chairmen, Emmanuel Olawuyi emerged Treasurer, and Akintunde Ojo and Fatimah Olanrewaju was elected Auditors.

Funke Ibrahim and Tejumade Ayansola were elected ex-officio members.
