Osun monarch hails APC’s by-elections victory

The Eburu of Iba, Oba Prof. Adekunle Adeogun Okunoye, has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory in last weekend’s by-elections in Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states, as a testament to President Bola Tinubu’s acceptance across the country.

Oba Okunoye, a professor of Business Analytics at Xavier University, Ohio, USA and Pro-Chancellor of Atiba University, Oyo, said the results point to victory for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

He also stated that President Tinubu has taken the country out of the woods and set it on the path of real growth. He urged Nigerians to be patient even as he noted that there’s no gain without pain.

“We need to know that it takes sacrifice and patriotism to reap the dividends of these reforms embarked upon by the administration in the past three years. I am positive that Mr. President will not let Nigerians down because he has demonstrated capacity which reflects his full grasp of the situation,” he said.

The monarch highlighted the sacrifices Nigerians are making. He, however, urged them to see the bigger picture.

Oba Okunoye also expressed concern over low voter turnout despite awareness campaigns by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other advocacy groups, lamenting that a minority continues to choose the nation’s leaders.

He said INEC’s voter sensitisation efforts are constrained and largely concentrated in urban areas.
