Reporters and some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) escaped death by whiskers as some thugs on Monday attacked the campaign train of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government of Osun State.
The incident happened in the Arapajo area, Gbongan around 5:30 pm when some thugs claiming to be members of the opposition party directed vehicles to leave the town.
The thugs were led by one Yinka, a Tailor, who had insisted that vehicles should not park in the Arapajo area.
Oyetola had gone to Ode-Omu and Orile-Owu before returning to Gbongan where the incident happened.
The thugs who had gone to lay siege for vehicles attacked members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Correspondents’ Chapel and destroy their bus.
The side screen was destroyed by a big stick however sprayed into peoples’ eyes and injured some Journalists.
The thugs were armed with cutlasses, axes, clubs and dangerous weapons.
No fewer than four vehicles were destroyed and some Journalists sustained injuries during the attack.
