The Osun State Government has announced its plans to identify and nurture talent during the third edition of the military and para-military games, which will commence Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital.

This year’s tournament will feature various security agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Police Force, and Nigeria Correctional Service. Additional participants include the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Vehicle Inspection Office (V.I.O), Federal Fire Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Speaking at a press conference heralding the 2025 military, para-military games at the NCS office, Osogbo, yesterday, the permanent secretary of the ministry of sports, who represented deputy governor Kola Adewusi, Layi Adesiyan, expressed the government’s commitment to sports development.

“We believe this tournament will serve as a breeding ground for sporting talent. We are open to partnerships with private investors to enhance sports facilities and support the hosting of events in the state.”

Adesiyan assured that scouts from the state government would be present at all venues to identify promising athletes for future national and international competitions.

The Chief Operating Officer of ACE Sports, the consulting firm overseeing the event, Olayinka Olawole, explained that the two-week tournament is designed to foster unity among the various security agencies in Osun.

He noted that the games will include a range of sports such as football (for both males and females), volleyball, table tennis, and track events (including 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay), as well as indoor games.

The chairman of the Osun Sports Officers Association, Mr. Olufemi Bankefa, added that the tournament would not only strengthen camaraderie among the operatives but also provide valuable opportunities for extracurricular activities.
