Osun State Government has promised to support the intercollegiate games slated to begin in the state Wednesday.
The Deputy Governor who doubles and Commissioner for Sport and Special Needs, Kola Adewusi, made the promise at a press conference heralding the intercollegiate games in Osogbo, on Monday.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Layi Adesiyan, Adewusi disclosed that the game would serve as avenue for the youths, particularly students to showcase their skills in sports.
He noted that part of the promise of the administration was to engage the youths and promote sport activities, assuring that the government will not renege on its promise.

“We want to provide a platform for students to showcase their skills in sports.The focus is to stop restlessness among the youths. The game will also promote the economy of the state,” Adewusi said.
The organiser, Abduganiy Olayiwola, explained that 13 tertiary institutions have responded to participate in the games slated to commence at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, on Wednesday.
“We wrote all the tertiary institutions in the state but 13 of them signified intention to participate. We have made necessary arrangements to ensure conveniency for those who are participating in the games.
“The games that are available includes football, badminton, table tennis, athletics, scrabbles, chess and tug of war,” Olayiwola said.
