Party agents at a polling centre in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State have insisted on counting the ballot papers brought to the unit before voting begins.
The agents raised concerns after election officials reportedly stated that 594 ballot papers had been delivered for the exercise.
“We were told that you brought 594 ballot papers for us, but it is not up to 594,” one of the agents said, demanding that the materials be counted before the commencement of voting.
The disagreement temporarily delayed proceedings as the party agents maintained that the number of ballot papers must be verified before voters are allowed to cast their ballots.
The agents said the count was necessary to establish the exact number of ballot papers available and ensure transparency in the electoral process.
Election officials were seen engaging with the party agents as they sought to resolve the disagreement over the ballot papers.
The development occurred amid heightened attention to the conduct of the Osun governorship election, with voters already gathered at polling centres across the state.
As of the time of filing this report, voting at the affected centre had not commenced, as party agents continued to demand verification of the ballot papers before the exercise could proceed.
