Osun State government has denied allegations of extorting traditional rulers, labeling claims by Ayeniromo Orunogbeke as “spurious and unfounded.”
The statement by the Office of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dosu Baba tunde, described Orunogbeke’s allegations as “reckless” and “baseless.”
The statement said the government had received requests for elevation from two individuals, which were processed and approved by the State Executive Council.

The statement claimed that no officials collected gratification from the individuals and that the elevation was suspended due to protests from other traditional rulers.
The government accused Orunogbeke of being a “fifth columnist” and a “pseudo name” used for “hatchet jobs” and “cheap blackmail.”
The statement provided a detailed chronology of events surrounding the elevation and suspension of the traditional rulers, emphasising that the government acted in accordance with due process.
