Osun: CSOs rate Adeleke high on accountability, grassroots impact

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

A team of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) has rated Governor Ademola Adeleke highly for good governance and accountability in Osun State.

The team, comprising leaders of various civil society groups in Nigeria, stated that its review and assessment mission to Osun revealed that Adeleke has delivered on his electioneering promises.

Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo on Thursday, team representatives Comrades Declan Ihekaire, Gbenga Ganzalo, and Funmi Ajayi explained that after touring the state for the past week, their findings indicated that residents at the grassroots are benefiting from infrastructural and human development initiatives. They also highlighted the governor’s people-focused administration, which actively listens to the opinions and criticisms of citizens.

Ihekaire stated:
“It is on record that during the last administration in Osun State, we conducted a similar exercise. As unbiased observers, we can boldly say that the current administration under Governor Ademola Adeleke has achieved so much that it deserves our commendation. This is not a total vote of confidence, but an encouragement for him to do even more for the people of Osun State.”

He added:
“The current Osun State government has remained faithfully committed to implementing its agenda. We can affirm that significant progress has been made in delivering on the promises made by the governor to the people.”

The CSOs urged Governor Adeleke to maintain his focus and not be distracted by political challenges.
“We call on the governor to sustain the high performance of his administration and remain steadfast in his commitment to excellent service delivery and democratic ideals,” Ihekaire concluded.
