From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
There was jubilation among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State as the party announced Ibrahim Kayode as the winner of the Osogbo Federal Constituency primary.
The announcement, made four days after the House of Representatives primary election, had been delayed following an alleged interest by a senior member of the party in another candidate.
The APC also announced Kunle Adegoke as the winner of the Osun Central Senatorial District primary election held on Monday.
The rally announcing the winners was led by Hon. Sola Oladepo, a former Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation in Osun, who praised the process, describing it as transparent, free and fair, and adding that it favoured Osogbo, the state capital, “in an unusual way”.

Oladepo said it was rare to have Osogbo and Olorunda producing the party’s Senate and House of Representatives candidates at the same time, adding that with the APC’s strength in the councils, the party was ready for the upcoming elections.
She stated that the APC is “battle-ready” ahead of the 15 August 2026 governorship election and the 2027 general election.
The leader of the Ibrahim Taofeek Kayode (ITK) Foundation, Yetunde Salami, said the duo of Adegoke and Kayode had contributed positively to the party’s development in Osogbo and Olorunda local governments, noting that they consistently mobilise and support the party’s cause.
Similarly, Hon. Taiwo Adelabu, a party stalwart from Osogbo Local Government, said the emergence of the candidates was not surprising because they had long been active in the party and respected its hierarchy, which he said would help sustain unity.
Adelabu added that the candidates had also supported people through scholarships and welfare programmes and expressed confidence that they would deliver effectively if elected.
