The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke for criticising plans by local government council executives to donate an operational vehicle to the police for the fight against insecurity.
The Accord Party, in a statement by its Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, had warned the police not to accept any car gift from the local government chairmen, saying that such donations are proceeds of criminal enterprise that may implicate the police.
But, the APC in a statement by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, yesterday, described the criticism as “uncalled for, frivolous and ill-motivated.”
APC said the issue was not the policy itself, but that the criticism by Adeleke and Accord Party was tied to the fact that the actions of reinstated APC local government council chairmen had “exposed” what it described as the state government’s failure to prioritise security.
The APC questioned why a “supposed ruling party” would shoot down the local councils’ help to police, saying it amounted to refusal to appreciate the effort of APC council executives.

The party also alleged that Governor Adeleke’s priorities were misplaced, pointing to what it claimed was over N600 million spent to renovate a local shrine in Ede, which it said contributed to the rejection of his government.
APC said Governor Adeleke and his allies must accept that the APC reinstated council executives are the legally elected council chairmen in Osun until they exhaust legal processes regarding the end of their tenure—adding that the Court of Appeal reinstated them on 10 February 2025 and the arrangement gives them autonomy.
The party argued that politicising security is abnormal and said the current approach reflects what it described as Governor Adeleke’s administrative challenges.
APC concluded that Accord Party officials, “political hangers-on” and other entities should stop obstructing efforts that support security operations, claiming their three-year stay in state politics has shown they lack the capacity to develop Osun.
