Operatives of Amotekun Corps in Osun State have arrested a 30-year-old man, Tajudeen Ridwan, for allegedly stealing electrical appliances at a mosque in Isale-Osun, Osogbo, Osun State.
In a statement by the corps spokesman, Idowu Yusuf, on Friday, the suspect who hailed from Edo State was arrested around 6:30 am by the operatives of Amotekun after he was caught by worshippers in the mosque.
According to the statement, the suspect confessed to being an ex-convict who just completed his four-year jail term in March this year for the same act. The Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (Rtd), said that the operatives of the corps arrested the suspect who disguised as a worshipper in a mosque in Osogbo for stealing an electronic engine used to call worshippers to prayers.
“He was caught after morning prayer thinking that all the worshippers had left the mosque, but luck ran against him when some worshippers saw him parking the electronic musical engine inside a shark bag and the attention of Amotekun Osogbo Command was called to the act and the operatives swung into action immediately and apprehended the felon on the spot.
“Upon preliminary investigation, he confessed to being an ex-convict who just completed his four-year jail term for the same act in March this year.
“The suspect has been handed over to the police for subsequent interrogation and prosecution,” Adewinmbi said.
