Bola Oyebamiji, the immediate past Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to lead the agency for the past two years.

As he resign the appointment, he has announced his intention to contest for the governorship election in Osun State in 2026.

In a statement released by Adebayo Adedeji, coordinator of the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Front, yesterday, Oyebamiji also thanked the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for recommending him to the president for the position.

According to Adedeji, during his tenure at NIWA, Oyebamiji has been recognized for his exceptional leadership. He has leveraged nearly 40 years of experience in both private and public sectors to enhance the agency’s efficiency.

He said, notably, under his guidance, deaths and accidents on Nigeria’s inland waterways decreased by over 70%, and safety awareness campaigns reached new heights. He maintained that staff welfare received significant attention and commendation.

“As he prepares for this new chapter, Oyebamiji reaffirmed his commitment to providing quality leadership and service to the people of Osun State. His vision focuses on steering Osun toward sustainable economic prosperity that future generations will appreciate.

For the upcoming 2026 governorship race, the AMBO Media Front highlights Oyebamiji’s reliance on divine guidance, the support of leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for his nomination, and the backing of the people of Osun State as he aspires to serve with integrity, competence, and dedication.
