A socio-political group, Peculiar Peoples Progress, has assured residents that the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, will prioritize the welfare and well-being of women if elected.
The group made this promise during an outreach program in Ileogbo, Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State, where cash and food items were distributed to over 200 women.
The organization also urged voters to come out en masse on Saturday to cast their ballots for the APC candidate.
Led by Mrs. Ige Adeyanju, the group explained that the gesture was a regular way of reaching out to the grassroots, noting that it was the women’s turn to be appreciated.
She added that the event also served as a platform to remind party members of the importance of participating in the upcoming governorship election.
“It is just to appreciate our people for their loyalty because, despite the political waves here and there, they have remained steadfast and given us their full support. We want them to know that we see them and appreciate them.
“We distributed items to 200 women to empower them. As you know, women hold the home and are the builders of the nation. We believe in our candidate, AMBO [Bola Oyebamiji], because he is a friend of women and has promised them numerous initiatives in Osun State,” Adeyanju said.
Expressing strong optimism, Adeyanju predicted that the entire local government area would be delivered to Oyebamiji, banking on the influence of women over their husbands, children, and dependents.
“A woman represents many people, her husband and children. That is why it is strategic to target women in any campaign. If you win over the woman of the house, you have practically captured seven or eight people in that household,” she noted.
Adeyanju further assured the beneficiaries of an open and transparent administration under Oyebamiji.
“Our leaders in this town have given us the assurance that there will be no hidden agenda. The incoming administration will be an open one. We are very sure that our votes will be delivered to Oyebamiji. Our leaders have been good to us, and this is the time for payback,” she added.
