Osun 2026: Ex-aide to Buhari, Omoworare boasts of victory
From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
An aide to former president Muhammadu Buhari and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Senator Jide Omoworare, has expressed confidence in his experience to win the 2026 governorship election if given the party’s ticket.
He tasked the aspirants to unite in the battle to rescue power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Omoworare, a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to late Buhari on National Assembly Matters, emphasised the need to remain united to enable the party come victorious in the 2026 governorship election.
Addressing stakeholders at Inisa and Ido-Osun during the continuation of his consultation yesterday, Omoworare posited that genuine loyalty to party structures and respect for collective decisions would determine the party’s success at the polls.
According to him, “In party politics, you must sell yourself, but ultimately, the party is supreme.
“We have elders in Osun APC who consult and know those who can win elections and deliver good governance. What we need now is teamwork and unity to end the ongoing charade in the state,” Omoworare said.
The former lawmaker, who has been touring the state’s federal constituencies, said his campaign was focused on reconnecting with the grassroots and restoring confidence in progressive governance.
“We’ve received a warm reception everywhere we went. We are confident that the APC will regain Osun in 2026, but it must begin with mutual trust and collective resolve,” he added.
Party leaders and members who attended the event praised Omoworare’s message and leadership experience, describing him as a disciplined and loyal member of the APC.
Honourable Tayo Adebisi, the Erelu of Ikirun Land, said the visit symbolized a renewed call for cohesion among party members.
“Fifteen people cannot sit on one seat. When anyone wins the primary, we must all rally behind him so that the APC can reclaim Osun,” Adebisi said.
Former Ifelodun Local Government chairman, Honourable Wasiu Ibrahim Adekunle, commended Omoworare’s plans for the state.
“He’s a complete gentleman and a committed party man. We agree with his vision and pray for his success,” he said.
Former Osun lawmaker, Hon. Abiodun Akinwale Awolola also lauded the aspirant’s political pedigree.
“Omoworare has the experience, wisdom, and capacity to lead. He’s a party man to the core and has pledged to support whoever emerges as the APC candidate. That shows genuine loyalty,” he said.
APC leader Alhaji Gbadebo Oyeniyi Ajao described Omoworare as a “five-star leader” who has been tested in governance and politics.
“He’s qualified and capable, having learned under great leaders like President Bola Tinubu. But beyond individual ambition, we’ll all support whoever the party chooses,” Ajao said.
