The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ajibola Basiru, has lamented the lack of community infrastructure in Osun State despite significant increases in federal allocations.
Dr. Basiru made this known during the APC campaign tour to Ifon-Osun, Erin-Osun, Ilobu, and Osogbo yesterday. He urged residents to vote for the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, promising that the incoming administration would immediately embark on community-driven infrastructural projects across all wards upon assumption of office.
“Federal allocations have increased significantly since our leader, President Bola Tinubu, assumed office. However, there is no corresponding value for these allocations because the funds coming into the state do not commensurate with what is received by the state government,” Basiru stated.
Providing a breakdown of the revenue growth, he noted: “Before President Tinubu assumed office in April 2023, the shared allocation was N586 billion. In April 2026, it rose to N2.2 trillion; in May, it reached N2.3 trillion; and in June, it hit N2.7 trillion.
“There is something called community infrastructure, which is sadly lacking under the present administration in Osun State. We have 332 wards, each comprising several communities. What visible infrastructure can be shown across these communities from over N2 trillion?”
He assured residents that a government led by Bola Oyebamiji would prioritize grassroots needs assessment. “We don’t need to force a water project on a community that doesn’t need it. There must be a proper needs assessment.
“Secondly, Your Royal Highness, our educational sector is retrogressing. If someone like me, who attended Salvation Army Primary School in Osogbo and Laro Grammar School and went on to earn a PhD in law, can reach this height, what will be the fate of the common citizen if we allow public schools to collapse?
“Presently, Osun State has a deficit of about 28,000 teachers. If we employ just 10,000 teachers, that instantly takes 10,000 youths off the unemployment market.
“Our public service is aging. To inject fresh energy into the system, our votes must bring value for money. The allocations we receive must reflect in tangible projects, and the person capable of achieving this is Bola Oyebamiji.
“Your Royal Highness, as you rightly noted, the President is working. What will make his efforts more impactful in our state is having robust collaboration with the federal government, rather than aligning with a party that is absent at the federal level. This synergy is what will drive true development in Osun State.
“That is why we must vote for the APC, the President’s party, on August 15, 2026. This vote will herald unprecedented development in our health sector, education, and beyond,” Basiru added.
In his remarks, the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, assured the electorate that he would deliver good governance across all towns and communities in the state without bias, if elected.
“As our party scribe rightly noted, we will not prioritize roads over education, healthcare delivery, agricultural development, and the micro-economy.
“We will ensure all-around development and improve the business environment of the state for all indigenes and residents, irrespective of their political affiliations,” Oyebamiji said.
