The media committee of the campaign council for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has called on the police and other security agencies to immediately arrest suspected political thugs allegedly hibernating in the government house to disrupt the election.
Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Friday, a member of the campaign council, Kehinde Ayantunji, alleged that armed thugs had been imported from outside the state to cause chaos.
“We have mentioned this in almost all of our press conferences. I’m here to call on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Director-General of the DSS, and all other security agencies involved in the Osun election that tomorrow’s election is under serious threat due to the actions of the Osun State Government.
“As I am talking to you now, we have intelligence that a large number of political thugs have been mobilized into the Government House. In the last two hours, they have been moving in and out, and our intelligence confirms that most of these individuals are not from this state,” Ayantunji said.
Providing specific details, Ayantunji claimed the thugs were operating under the codenames “Olowe” and “Iberu.”
He listed vehicle registration numbers allegedly linked to the movement, including a dark ash Lexus Jeep (KRD207IS), a Toyota Corolla (AKD795GR), a red Volkswagen Golf (AIA719, as noted in context), and another dark ash Lexus Jeep (KRD210KS), alleging that some of the suspects were brought in from Lagos State.
The campaign council also raised concerns over the deployment of an armored personnel carrier at the entrance of the Government House, questioning why the security asset was stationed to guard the premises rather than being handed over to security forces deployed for election duties.
“Having realized their imminent defeat in the state capital territory, specifically Osogbo, Irepodun, and Egbedore, the agenda is to mobilize them with funds and ammunition to destabilize Ward 5 in Osogbo Local Government; Wards 4 and 8 in Okini, Egbedore Local Government; Ido Osun; and Ofatedo,” he added.
Ayantunji warned that if any harm comes to APC members or any voter during the polls, Governor Ademola Adeleke should be held responsible for allegedly shielding political thugs within the Government House.
He noted that the council has compiled pictorial evidence to back up its claims and has shared them with the press and relevant stakeholders.
