Osimhen scored his first Champions League goal of the season as Galatasaray beat Lille 4-2 at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Wednesday.

The win earned the Turkish champions their first points of the 2026/27 Champions League campaign. Osimhen scored against his former club and apologised to Lille fans for refusing to celebrate.

His performance earned him the Match of the Match award.

Galatasaray took an early lead through Yunus Akgun before Lille forward Soriba Diaoune scored twice to put the hosts ahead.

Aleksey Batrakov equalised before half-time, while Nabil Bentaleb’s own goal restored Galatasaray’s advantage after the break.

Osimhen then sealed the victory with a right-footed finish in the 61st minute.

After scoring, the Nigerian said: “We put on a great match, but we had come prepared knowing it would be a tough one too. I want to thank our fans for their constant support.

From now on, we want to take it one match at a time and win every game. We also have a huge match against PSG, but Champions League games are always tough.”
