A member of the House of Representatives representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Aderemi Abass Oseni, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Oyo South Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oseni made the declaration on Sunday at the Recreation Club in the Sabo area of Ibadan, where party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters gathered for the official announcement of his senatorial ambition.

Addressing the audience, the lawmaker described the moment as historic, stating that his decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders and constituents across the senatorial district.

“I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude to God and a renewed spirit for service. I come not with entitlement, but with humility; not with pride, but with purpose; not to seek a title, but to answer a call,” he said.

Oseni, who currently serves in the National Assembly, emphasized that his political journey since 2018 has been driven by service, sacrifice, and a commitment to improving the lives of ordinary citizens. He highlighted his legislative and constituency achievements, including infrastructure projects, educational support initiatives, youth empowerment programmes, and healthcare interventions.

According to him, his track record demonstrates both capacity and readiness for higher responsibility in the Senate.

“I have served well, and I am prepared to serve more. I stand before you with confidence, not arrogance; with experience, not presumption; and with a verifiable record of impact,” Oseni stated.

The lawmaker also used the occasion to reaffirm his loyalty to the APC and expressed strong support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, describing it as a top political priority.

“My commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and the re-election of Mr President remains unwavering, non-negotiable, and sacrosanct. We will mobilise all structures to ensure victory,” he said.

Outlining his vision for Oyo South, Oseni pledged to focus on education, healthcare, youth empowerment, job creation, and attracting federal projects to the district. He stressed that his ambition goes beyond occupying political office, noting that his mission remains consistent regardless of position.

“The office may change, but my mission remains the same: service, impact, and legacy. I aspire not just to represent the people, but to stand with them and deliver meaningful progress,” he added.

Oseni further called for unity within the APC, urging party members to prioritise collective success over individual ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Our task is greater than personal ambition. If we remain united, we will win together and build our party stronger,” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the incumbent Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District and APC governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections.

Alli projected that the APC would secure victories across all elective positions in Oyo State, including the governorship, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly seats.

He also urged party members to sustain unity, noting that cohesion within the party would be critical to reclaiming power in the state.

“With unity and determination, we will bring good governance back to Oyo State. The developmental strides recorded in Ido/Ibarapa East under Hon. Oseni will be replicated across the entire Oyo South Senatorial District,” Alli said.
