Osayi Samuel out of Super Eagles AFCON qualifiers

Fenerbache defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel has been ruled out of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda due to injury.

Osayi-Samuel was on the final squad to the 2023 AFCON in February.

Super Eagles face Benin in Uyo on Saturday, before they tackle Rwanda in Kigali next Tuesday.

To replace Osayi-Samul is Benjamin Tanimu, who has signed for English club, Crawley Town. He’s making a surprise return to the Super Eagles.

Tanimu, who previously played in Tanzania, made his Super Eagles debut against Ghana in March.

He was also called up for the 2016 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin, but has yet to convince.

His transfer to England was reportedly brokered by the agent of Super Eagles stand-in captain William Ekong.
