From Scholastica Onyeka, Makurdi

Former Governor of Benue State Chief Samuel Ortom has sympathised with the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Pastor Paul Enenche, members of the church and the entire Christian community in the state, over the church collapse which killed one person and injured four others.

A church building belonging to Dunamis collapsed last Monday in the North Bank area of Makurdi killing a pastor and leaving four others injured.

Ortom in a condolence message signed by his Media Aide, Terver Akase, described the incident as unfortunate.

He sympathised with the family of the resident pastor, Ezekiel Sunday Ahmed, who died in the incident, as well as those who sustained injuries.

He prayed that God to console the bereaved family and grant the survivors speedy healing.

Meanwhile, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Center, Pastor Paul Enenche on Tuesday visited Benue for an on-the-spot assessment of the collapsed church located at the North Bank area of Makurdi.

The church was said to have collapsed in the wee hours of Tuesday when five people including the pastor in charge, Pastor Ezekiel Ahmed were observing prayers.

The pastor was reportedly killed in the collapsed building.

Speaking during the visit, Pastor Enenche said the church has always followed due diligence in everything they do and promised to step it up.

He described the incident as sad especially the loss of “a dedicated servant of God.”

He however admonished members of the church who were at the scene of the incident to appreciate God for the limitations of the incident.

He said, “There is something to thank God under earth if you look critically it would have been worse if it happened during the eight hours liberty service or all night last Friday.
