An international education organisation, Darsel, has called for stronger collaboration with the Lagos State Government and other key stakeholders to enhance the foundation of mathematics education among students across Nigeria.
The call was made at a media briefing held in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, to reintroduce the Darsel Learn-by-Text Chatbot, as students resume for a new academic session.
The digital learning tool is designed to strengthen mathematics knowledge and rekindle students’ interest in the subject through regular, interactive practice.
Speaking at the briefing, Darsel’s country implementation partner, Mrs Wunmi Tolu-Alalade, said the initiative is aimed at improving students’ mathematics performance and raising the overall quality of education in Lagos State and beyond.
She stressed that sustained government support and multi-level collaboration are critical to the success of the programme, noting that improved mathematics outcomes would help shape a more confident and capable generation of Nigerian learners.
“In an era where technology continues to redefine learning, Nigeria is witnessing a quiet but powerful transformation in mathematics education at the junior secondary school level.
“At the heart of this shift is the Darsel Learn-by-Text Chatbot, an innovative educational solution implemented by Sapphire Exploits 21st Century Skills Consultancy,”Tolu-Alalade said
According to her, the initiative has commenced full utilisation across all public junior secondary schools in Lagos State, while pilot programmes are also underway in Abuja, Ondo and Oyo states.
She explained that the pilot schemes involve selected schools approved by the respective Ministries of Education and education boards.
Tolu-Alalade highlighted the inclusive and cost-free nature of the programme, describing it as one of its most outstanding features.
“There are no financial implications for students, parents, teachers, schools or Ministries of Education, yet the impact is both measurable and far-reaching,” she said.
